The Israel Translators Association 2027 conference will be held on February 15-17. February 15 will be an in-person day and take place in the Center region of Israel. February 16 and 17 will be online days.

We invite you to submit proposals for talks, workshops, and panels, and share your experience and expertise with translators, interpreters, and editors. This year it has been decided to look for several main topics rather than a single one. We are looking for talks especially in the following subjects:

  • The translator as a cultural bridge in a multi-lingual society – translation isn’t merely the conversion of words from one language to another, but also acts as a cultural bridge between writers and their audience. The translator transfers the writer’s message to the cultural world of the readers and the target audience. The craft of translation requires the translator to have cultural sensitivity to both cultures. Thus, the translator serves as a communicator and a bridge between both cultures.

  • The translator as a node in a professional network – translators engage with professionals in their specialty fields. A legal translator communicates with lawyers; a technical translator communicates with engineers and other high-tech people; and so forth. Furthermore, there are projects that require cooperation with other professionals, such as graphic designers and editors. How can translators optimize their business interfacing with other professionals on the one hand, and with end clients on the other?

  • Marketing – Marketing ourselves in today’s world. How can we differentiate ourselves from the Machine? How to stay relevant?

  • Translating literature and poetry – We welcome literary and poetry translators to share their experience and tell us about issues, both translation and other issues, in their work.

  • Translation tools – Translation tools update frequently, with the range of options continually expanding. We would like to hear about intelligent use of various tools: CAT, TM, AI, Integrated, interpreter, and others.

  • The translators physical work environment – We work on a computer and live online, but the human body remains the small body. Thus, our physical working environment is also important.

Of course, in addition to the topics we specified, we would love to receive proposals on any other topic that might be relevant to an audience of translators, interpreters, and editors.

We may start approving proposals before the submission deadline – please don’t wait for the last moment to submit your proposal.

The deadline for submitting proposals is September 30, 2026.
